Q. What is EGF and how does it work?

A. EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) is a naturally occurring protein found in your skin and is a molecule that increases skin cell renewal. RéVive bioengineered a form of EGF (called recombinant EGF) which helps stimulate old skin cells to revert to a more youthful renewal pattern.

Q. Are the products fragranced?

A. There is no fragrance added to the majority of RéVive products, however, on occasion a masking agent will be introduced to make the product usage a lovely experience for our clients.

Q. What is the appropriate regimen for my skin?

A. The daily regimen is Cleanse, Tone, Serum and Moisturize. Many of the products are used day and night, however, your individual skin concerns may dictate some differences in the AM and PM routine. A regimen is suggested after you have had a consultation with a Skincare Specialist who can determine the perfect system for your skin type and conditions. We recommend the daily use of an SPF.

Q. At what age should I start using "anti-aging" skincare?

A. Signs of aging may begin as early as your 20's. While this is not chronological aging it could be caused by environmental and lifestyle factors. RéVive addresses those specific concerns with preventative products which help break into the cycle and provide real anti-aging benefits.

Q. Was RéVive the first skincare line to use Growth Factors?

A. RéVive owns the patent for use of EGF in cosmetics, becoming the first to market growth factors in skincare (1997).

Q. How long should a jar of Moisturizing Renewal Cream last? And, do the products expire?

A. Since Moisturizing Renewal Cream is used nightly, a jar should last 3-4 months. An unopened container should be kept in your cabinet and will remain 'fresh' for several years.

Q. When can I expect to see results?

A. Depending on the specific concern and condition of the skin, one can expect to see the start of results in weeks while other deeper lying aging issues may take several months to notice a remarkable improvement.

Q. Why do I need a serum?

A. The aging process is multi-factorial and must be addressed on several different levels. A serum is a concentrated product that addresses your specific concerns. For example, while RéVive moisturizers fight against chronological aging, Serum Prôtectif blocks the effects of environmental aging with SOD, a powerful antioxidant. If you are concerned with volume loss, wrinkles or loss of firmness, we recommend Intensité™ Volumizing Serum with KGF to provide intensive repair for maturing skin. Both serums work on different conditions than your moisturizer but in synergy to provide a more youthful and glowing skin.

Q. I have some spots or discolorations that bother me. Can anything be done?

A. There are two possible options for your special concern. If you find your skin is blotchy or you have lost overall clarity, then Arrête Booster C, used sparingly at night under your serum, will help correct the appearance of uneven skin tone. Spots, due to acne, sun or aging can be addressed with Blanche Lighten Brighten. Use it morning and night on that bothersome spot and it will effectively fade it away.

Q. If I use Sensitif™ Cellular Repair Cream during the day and Moisturizing Renewal Cream at night, why would I want an additional moisturizer?

The moisturizers you mention are the prefect pair for most skin. We recommend an additional moisturizer over your regular moisturizer if you are very dry and dehydrated. This might be a seasonal concern or a spot treatment when you find the condition persists.

Q. I have used acne products in the past and have found that they did clear up my acne for a while but my skin seemed older after the treatments. What causes this?

A. Benzoyl Peroxide is a common ingredient in many acne preparations and while it may clear up blemishes, it will also age the skin. Acne Reparatif was created to be Benzoyl Peroxide free, using naturally occurring amino acids to help rid the skin of acne and prevent further blemishes plus additional ingredients which are anti-aging and diminish the appearance of enlarged pores.

Q. I would like information about the expiration of skincare products. Terms like 'shelf life' and 'use up rate' are not easy to understand and I just want to know when I should throw my moisturizer away.

A. In the United States there are no regulations or guidelines from the FDA about the expiration date for either skincare or makeup products. However, all products with 'active ingredients' are considered over the counter drugs (OTC's) and require more proof in their claims and also expiration dates to be printed on their cartons or labels.

Examples include any product with a sunscreen or therapeutic claim for Acne, amongst others. See your ingredient list and the first ingredient will say "active ingredient" and that product will have an expiration date as mandated by law.

Shelf life in non-OTC products is defined as the amount of time an unopened product is good under normal conditions of storage which is dependent on the product composition, package and preservation. If you keep your unopened products in climate controlled environments without excess heat or cold then they should be in good condition when you open them. Still unsure? Then look at the color and check the smell. If either seems abnormal, discard.

The European Union has devised a system called Period After Opening (POA) which is represented by an open jar with a number followed by an M (menses or month). This symbol establishes how long a product may last after it is opened. This is a guideline and does not take into account how the product is used or stored. You will see this symbol on any product that is available for sale in the EU even though you may be purchasing it in the US.
